[T3] calipers for type3

i got my new calipers in for my type3   the company they made them were  ATE 
i heard they are the best aftermarket calipers you can get is that true i 
heard vw  used the same company back in the 60-70's and even to this day on 
the  new vws is that true  i paid 45.00 apiece   90.00 for  the set of 2 i 
heard that was a awesome price  any imput would be great
