I suspect that, in addition to Keith's comments, he got tired of people who just wanted a simple answer to the question of how hot is too hot, without wanting to care about all the little things that make different measurements come out differently. OTOH, he DOES sell a dipstick temp switch. After going several ways, I no longer bother with any extra gauges. When you think about it, you realize that all you're interested in is the answer to the question of "Is everything okay?" The oil pressure and generator idiot lights do that. The other gauges are certainly interesting, but the lack of calibration means that we can't compare readings and we don't really know what we're talking about, so they just tend to fuel debates. In the end, we end up just trusting the oil pressure idiot light. The moral to this story is: Add any gauges you like, but BE SURE YOUR STOCK IDIOT LIGHTS WORK PROPERLY. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
