<x-charset iso-8859-1>Erick=> what are the pros/cons for 6vlt? This comes up regularly. Having done a complete 12V conversion, I'm in position to recommend that if you don't *really need* 12V, don't do it. Your 6V system is reliable, well designed and will work fine if you clean up the contacts and apply the same sort of care you would to a conversion. On the other side of the coin, the conversion to 12V -- assuming you want to do it *right* -- is a challenge on several levels: finding the parts that fit together, making the necessary changes to the engine and transaxle, paying close attention to detail, pulling your dash *completely* apart, etc. I will say that if you want to have a huge positive effect on your electrical system, the best and cheapest fix you can do yourself is to completely replace your wire looms to 6V specs. Forty-year-old wires and connectors are often brittle, corroded, etc., and you can spend a lot of hassle chasing random gremlins as you start fixing things. This is something you'd want to do whether you convert to 12V or not, and it's a lot less hassle than the 12V conversion.
