In the end, everyone figures out the best way to start their car, but I
think VW recommended leaving the pedal alone when starting. I
just open the throttle a little bit.
The business about pumping the pedal which works on some cars,
will actually do the same thing on the 70-3 FI cars, but it's never
necessary. On the 68-9 FI it does nothing except confuse the brain.
