<x-charset iso-8859-1>Another opinion:) I have started both my 69 Square and my 72 Fastback this way. Both VW manuals state the correct starting procedure is to hold the pedal to the floor. My 69 FI ran like a dream but I always had to hold the pedal down on cold Michigan mornings. Jason T. In the end, everyone figures out the best way to start their car, but I think VW recommended leaving the pedal alone when starting. I just open the throttle a little bit. The business about pumping the pedal which works on some cars, will actually do the same thing on the 70-3 FI cars, but it's never necessary. On the 68-9 FI it does nothing except confuse the brain. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe </x-charset>
