Just get a key cut to the code - did the key fit the doors too? The lock number is stamped onto the handle lock. I've taken '71 ignition locks out without a key that works; wheel off, lock cover plate off (screws under plastic cap), look for small hole on inside face and push bent wire or angled circlip pliers to release spring catch and pull out lock. (At least I am sure that's how I did it; I certainly didn't have the right key as I was salvaging what I could from a doomed car). Dave.
