Interesting. I'm almost completely unfamiliar with the earlier cars 
and I've never seen one run like this. All the later versions, from at 
least 68 on have the main harness running along the inside of the 
driver's side doorsill and up the inside of the kick panel (hinge pillar) 
on the left. It is totally inside from the voltage regulator forward.  

Can anyone tell us when this changed over?  

The 68 main harness broke out into the space inside the rear 
fender on its way to the back of the car. This later switched to 
running inside and under the cargo deck in 71, I think. It was much 
less vulnerable to crash damage there.
