I don't have my manual here, but that sounds about right. The final judge is the dipstick: It should be between the marks when measured after running thru the gears and with the engine running. This measures the level with all the passages filled. > I will be starting the motor shortly, after it has stood (in a shed) for > about 7 years. I would drain and refill, then warm up the engine at med RPM (don't just let it idle,) then drain and refill again. > The front brake caliper pistons are very stiff, also from standing. This will "break them loose" but it will never free them up completely. If you work them enough with hydraulic pressure then you should be able to disassemble them with air pressure enough to rebuild them. This is the ONLY way to get them back like new. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
