If you have a stock setup, then the stock muffler is a great addition. You get quietness (relative that is), you get good fit to engine and body, and you get better heat once you track down a set of rear heat exchangers to fit between the engine and muffler. Stock mufflers are a bit pricey these days ($200), but if you go to swap meets, you can sometimes find one for under $100. Also, they tend to last a lot longer than Bug muffers I've noticed. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Nathan Jacobsen '62 NB '69 SB M/T >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> > I need a new muffler for my '71 Fasty, and was hoping you could give me > some advice. > > Any advice? > I would like a quiet car, and I'm not worried about losing some engine > power by using a quiet muffler rather than a performance muffler.
