I would not hesitate to just replace one if I could get them to balance. I even once built an engine with 2 perfectly good pairs of pistons: 1 & 3 balanced and 2 & 4 balanced. It worked fine and ran smoothly. You will find that pistons from different manufacturers will weigh quite differently. Exhaust valves are some of the most critical engine parts. Never skimp on them. I reuse intake valves if the stems and keeper grooves are good, I will grind the valve margin to get good sealing, but I only install new, known quality, exhaust valves. There is junk out there on the market. Be careful what you buy.
