That explains why my Bentley diagram doesn't exactly match my harness. There's some connections that are interchanged from what's on the diagram. I've got them renumbered in the book, but was kind of shock when I first got the car and was chasing FI gremlins. What I did at the time was assume if it had continuity between the controller and the end connector, the wire was good. Sometimes had to go looking for the right slot in the connector. Gave the local VW parts counter man a chuckle when I asked if they still had FI harnesses available.
