Can't wait to try it out & see. But it's going to have to wait until the yeardometer flips over a buncha zeroes. My little old lady & I are leaving from NW Indiana for South Carolina tomorrow. We wanted to drive our beloved Ghia, but due to several combined circumstances it'll be the big Astro van this time. She's driving nicely, and heating fairly well considering the low teens temperatures. She sure didn't want to start yesterday though when it was 6F degrees--teach me to take the 6v battery inside & put it by the woodstove for the night. While I'm on a mini-vacation with the inlaws (really, they're wonderful) I'll try to figure the html thing out & post some pictures. She's really gorgeous & I know one of these days I'm going to cause a wreck because of all the rubbernecking I see when people pass. I don't mind answering all the questions, but I think I might get tired of, "No, it's NOT a Corvair." Actually, I'd be pretty willing to bet on this one. I don't think you can fit the wrong gearmotor, and I don't mean that he has the arm on upside down; it's just in the wrong rotational position. The only other time I saw this on a car I fretted over it for a week and never figured it out until the car was gone. Unfortunately it never came back. I had been assuming that the person who replaced the gearmotor had done it right, but that was a stupid assumption. This is why all the books show you which position to bolt the actuating arm onto the gearbox; not all of them explain that you really need to run the gearbox and let it "park" before you do this. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
