If you can see the little (~3mm) threaded shaft disappearing up into the head, then it is likely that all you are missing is the thremostat and the bracket that holds it. If you know what you are doing then you can just install these with little fuss. If you don't know how this is all supposed to work, then you need to figure it out before you spend a lot of time with the car. Yes, buy the Bentley. Take your time, your car's been without this part for a few years, another month won't matter.
