Re: type 3 panel van

Some info on the type 3 panel van I got from the book 'Das grosse Buch der
Volkswagen Typen: Alle Fahrzeuge von 1934 bis heute' by Lothar Boschen
(Stuttgart: Motorbuch Verlag, 1983, p.302-335. ISBN 3-87943-799-8)

Model year 1964:
The Variant is available as 'Lieferwagen' (delivery van), rear seat
is optional.
        Known as Variant II.
Model year 1969:
While the other models are equipped with the double-jointed rear
axle, the Variant
II is still built with the swing axle with additional torsion spring.

The type 3 Variant II was also sold in the Netherlands. While restoring his
'72 VW 1600 LE Variant (type 365) a fellow VW club member found out it had
been built as a panel van. When removing the rear windows, it became clear
that these had been retro-fitted. Also, the rear seat was fitted with
house-hold type hinges!

Martin, could you please post the details about this book (author, full
title, publisher, ISBN #) to the list so I can go out and find it (German is
no problem for me).
