I wish to call your attention to the following two Websites which contain a
wealth of practical information regarding VW engine repair, overhaul and
maintenance:
a. www.bostonengine.com
b. www.type2.com/sermons/
The following two books are indespensible to any Type III owner who wants to
do his own tune-ups, maintenance and engine overhauls:
a. " How to keep your Volkswagen alive" by John Muir
b. " How to Rebuild your Volkswagen Air-Cooled Engine" by Tom Wilson
Other good sources of information are:
a. "Gene Bergs" Catalog
b. "How to Hotrod Volkswagen Air-Cooled Engines"
c. "Air-Cooled VW Engine Interchange Manual" by Keith Seume
The books are all available from Classic Motorbooks; 1-800-826-6600. They
have an excellent "free" catalog of books, which every enthusiast should
have.
I hope this is helpful to the Type III community!
