Reference Websites and Books for Engine Repairs & Common Sense.

> The following two books are indespensible to any Type III owner who wants to
>do his own tune-ups, maintenance and engine overhauls:
> a. " How to keep your Volkswagen alive" by John Muir
> b. " How to Rebuild your Volkswagen Air-Cooled Engine" by Tom Wilson

The Muir book is quirky and fun, but betrays the writer's prejudices, and
covers too many models to do a really good job. The Wilson book has many
good photographs, but there are lots of mistakes in the text; I advise
caution. You failed to mention the best one:

Volkswagen Official Service Manual, Type 3
Fastback and Squareback 1968-1973
published by Robert Bentley, Cambridge, Mass, 1974
ISBN 0-8376-0057-X / LPV 997 383 / VSQU
(excellent book, complete and well written)

> Other good sources of information are:
> a. "Gene Bergs" Catalog
> b. "How to Hotrod Volkswagen Air-Cooled Engines"

These are both excellent.

> c. "Air-Cooled VW Engine Interchange Manual" by Keith Seume

I'm not familiar with this one. Sounds interesting.
