I thought you all would appreciate what happened to me on a rainy day
about ten years ago.
I was driving along in my '63 Squareback and it was the first rainy
day after a dry spell so the road was slick. Right after coming around a
90 degree corner I had to stop behind a line of cars at a red light, which
I safely did. The next thing I knew, another car was coming up fast on my
tail and I could tell it was not going to be able to stop. Its wheels were
locked and the skidding sound was ominous!
Just before the moment when I was expecting impact a miracle
occurred--- the car veered slightly to the right and smashed into a car in
the other lane!! As a witness I stayed around for awhile and had a chance
to talk to the driver. Come to find out, he used to drive a Type 111 and
spared my car out of loyalty!
Was that my lucky day, or what?
