I know that this was covered a couple of months ago, so I apologize for rehashing "old" information. I would like to know what is the recommended CR for the vw engine. I did all the calculations, and I came up with 8.08:1. This sounds borderline, I would just like some reassurance. Also, did we conclude that the "cool air tins" on my engine are aftermarket, and will they work with the stock air deflectors under the cylinders? Thanks, Bryan 73 sq p.s. this is very much a stock rebuild. Another thing, how can I tell if the clutch and pressure plate I got for my new engine is a late model?
