a question for you American Friends, Following the threads with regard to fibreglass floor Pans I am suprised that your vehicle inspectors approve it. Do you have yearly inspections like the British MOT. All stuctural panels have to be replaced, or patched with metal that is seam welded to solid metal, no pop rivets and glue allowed. Wile I am all for fibreglass and believe when well made can be stronger and lighter than steel, feel that care should be taken when using it for repairs to the floors. As Jim said if the floors are rotten then it's likely that heater channels and other areas are could be rotten too, and a floor repaired with fibreglass could hide all sorts of nightmares that are may only noticed in an accident when you need all the strength available. As for repairing floors, I've found sides of fridges, washing machines and even Ford van Panels, when cut and beaten into shape make suitable replacements. Fortunately I have now some best quality second hand floors back in my fastback so It's all VW again. Nic Webb 71 Fastback (ex fridge) Team Roobarb & Custard.
