Was Dave asking about the engine air intake vents below the side window or the 3 ventilation in/outs inside/outside of the rear hatch? And why did he ask about only one side? The dash vents will pressurize the cabin so I would not expect fumes. Opening windows or vents will cause a bit of a vacuum and encourage fumes.
