Re: Electronic Ignition module in FI

     Big Al is right.

If the kit you are looking at requires replacing the entire dist. it
won't work. If you are just replacing the points in the stock dist
you can do it. I think compufire doesn't even require you to change
the cap and rotor which is desirable since the type 1 cap can cause
your wires to touch the engine cover and short out.
I have not actually done this yet. I think Toby Erkson has done
this. He does not have FI but he used a different brand of electronic
points replacement. He thought it worked rather well.

"I have a '70 Square, with meddlesome Fuel Injection, and have yet to
find any printed media that explicitly states any possible problems with
installing an Electronic Ignition module in combination with the FI
BrainBox. Has anyone done this?"

I haven't seen a response to this question yet, so I'll bite...

I have never heard of anyone ever trying this. I would guess that the
two would be incompatible. The stock Distributor is a vital part of the
FI with it's own special contacts.

But I am not fully versed on the electronic ignition.

The "pointless" ignition should work on FI's though, all you do is
replace the stock points in the stock distributor with their module.

That's about all I have info on.
