Text item: Text1 Tommmm, how's the Purple People Eater? When are you gonna get some pictures up? I have a Hurst-style shifter with trigger reverse lockout, 40% shortened throw, spring-loaded side gate with positive stops, and a *solid* metal Hurst shift knob/handle (bought separately at a general auto store). Love it!!! It was a simple replacement of the stock shifter i.e. bolt-on. The hardest part was adjusting the new shifter so the shift pattern worked as normal (which really isn't hard to do). You adjust the after-market shift just like the stock shifter, however, so if you can do the stock one then this shouldn't be a problem. My only complaint is the Hurst shift handle sometimes gets VERY hot in the summer and VERY cold in the winter so sometimes I have to shift with the stick. That's why God invented driving gloves ;) Living in Washington you probably would only have to worry about the cold times :p""" Toby Erkson, air_cooled_nut@pobox.com '72 VW Squareback 1.6L bored and stroked to 2.0L '75 Porsche 914 1.8L Portland, Oregon, http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/8501/ ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: After market shifters... What kinds of experience have folks had with these critters? T o M
