I just assumed that these people lived outside the rust belt where
this problems didn't pop up. I have always managed to get the
torsion bars out of the trailing arms with a large hydraulic press at
work. Sometimes the other end of the torsion bar needs to be heated
to free it from the socket in the axle beam. This causes its own
problems because it sometimes burns something I wanted to save.
