The sequel to Running on two cylinders: Hellooo List, Thanks so much for everybody's suggestions. As things turned out I didn't have to rebuild the carb. It was a busted diaphragm in the fuel pump. Thanks Carl for the helpful suggestion!! After replacing the fuel pump, starting Thumper & letting him run for a while I disconnected the plug wire going to cylinder #1 & lo & behold there was a considerable difference in the idle speed. Did the same with cylinder #2 with the same results. OH HAPPY DAY!!! I could tell by the way Thumper was acting he wanted to go show-off, so out on the road we went. We being Thumper, Andrew my son, & myself. He ran good with no backfiring, sputtering or misses. After getting home & letting Thumper cool down I pulled off the valve covers & guess what. NO GAS inside the covers!! Please excuse my enthusiasm but it always seems like it has been 1 step forward & 2 back. I guess that comes with the territory of restoring an almost 30 year old car that has sat exposed to the elements for 5 years. Not to mention being very limited in my mechanical abilities. This list has been a God send with what I have learned. Shawn A., if those carb rebuilding kits will work for my 32 PDSIT Solex, please hold on to them as I may need them later. Thanks everyone, Tom '68 FB (Thumper)
