</div>Keep in mind that the PRESSURE is a few psi, but the FORCE on the<br>
needle depends on what fraction of 1 sq. in. that the needle blocks.<br>
That force is on the order of .015 lbs for a 2 mm float valve and 3<br>
psi from the pump.<br>

It's impossible to tell for sure, but that little loop just looks<br>
like what's often used to make sure the float pulls down when the<br>
float drops. That would just keep the valve from sticking closed.<br>
