If I remember correctly, the beetle's offset is 34, versus the t-3's offset
of 46. Super beetles and some ghias used an offset of 42. This is part of the
reason why those who are using 8 spoke rims have a rubbing problem when used on
a lowered t-3. The outside edge is kicked out 12mm further, then the added 1
inch of rim width is probably split between the 2 sides. I hope this helps.
