Re: [T3] Carb Problems


Sounds the right procedure.

I've recently cleaned out my twin carbs, replaced both choke pull-down
diaphragms (NLA so had to use a diaphragm from a camper 34-PICT3 kit -
improvisation needed), adjusted the choke setting, tightened a loose manifold
nut and ensured there were no flange leaks.  Started up with slightly high idle,
but settled with minimal adjustment.  Running better than for a while.

Like yourself, the RH carb mixture screw is very sensitive, but the LH doesn't
have as big an effect.  I've not applied the CO meter yet, so I'll do that next
and see what changes as I adjust the LH mixture.

Oddly the RH carb had much more red dust in it than the LH one.  An old VW
mechanic suggested it may have been doing more than half the work.  BTW, anyone
know what the red deposits (precipitates) from fuel are?
