Re: [T3] Carb Problems

<x-flowed>StevenC=> I think I've fixed the flooding problems she was having by installing
=> slightly thicker gaskets under the fuel pump to drop the pressure a bit.

It's possible that this did something that seems positive, but it amounts to creating a second problem to mask the first. Check your float needle valves: the fiber washer under the valve should be unusually thick. These gaskets set the proper position for the valve, and they are frequently missing from the carb kits. If the gasket is too thin, the carb will overflow.

Stock fuel pressure for a dual-carb Type 3 is 5psi against the stock Type 1 3psi. You won't notice the difference until you're running hard up a long hill.

=> the left idle mixture screw makes no difference to idle speed or engine running.

You may have an air leak on the left side. Check for a loose jet cap, a crack in the crossover joint rubber, like that. The needle valve or another part of the idle circuit may also be clogged with crud. Whatever's causing this is probably also causing your acceleration problem, putting your carbs out of balance. Are you using a carb sync measurement tool of some sort? Which procedure are you following?
