Did it come this way or did someone butcher it? Sounds like it's been "fixed." Early cars had a separate folded sheet steel frame for the accel pedal only, which bolted under the same bolts that hold the main alum casting (that holds the bearing for the clutch and brake pedal) in place. That frame was a real pain to hold in alignment at the same time that you also had to hold the casting and the clutch and brake pedals. I know that '66 has the 2-part assy, but by '68 it was one piece.
