I asked at work today, and our machinist here agreed that there was a type of bearing generically known as a torrington bearing, but that it was a particular style of needle bearing. These were made as the normal type of radial bearing or as thrust bearings, but that they always had needles or tapered rollers in them. I found a couple of references to torrington bearings via Google, too, but the only ones I looked at either referred to the Torrington brand or the style with needles or tapered rollers. I should look in my Machinery's Handbook to see if there is any mention there. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
