Since you have the circuit all worked out, why not watch for changing 
voltages on the flasher relay box and elsewhere?

I've managed to make some of the later ones work. Yours is the one 
with about a dozen terminals on it, isn't it? I'm not totally 
familiar with that one, but I THINK the plastic cover actually snaps 
on, even though there are some rivits holding other parts together.
