[T3] Generator Light/funny voltage
<x-flowed>Hey.
I just went through what MAY be the same problem. Gen light stayed on for
about 30 seconds after startup... over the course of a couple weeks, 30
seconds became 5 minutes. Swapped in a known-good regulator, polarized
system, cleaned up many connections, searched for any sort of short or
current drain... no change. Battery was receiving just less than 12,
occasionally spiking to near 14.
So I called the guy who sold me the Bosch generator less than a year ago (Al
at J-Bugs, helluva guy). He says nearly every T3 Bosch gennie he's sold
recently has come back. Bad batch of remanufactures, must be?
Hunted down another source - found a completely generic unmarked generator,
no name/mfr. info stamped in the case or on the box anywhere. Works
perfectly, problem fixed...? now I'm just a little apprehensive about how
long this no-name unit might last.
Now, I'm no charging-system genius. Just because a fresh gen is now doing
the job... is there something I should look for in my system that might be
contributing to short gennie life?
