Thanks for the friendly advice.  I can't see how the flaps themselves  
direct flow - they seem to be a doorway only. If it does not make  
sense to remove the flaps how do you folks test to make sure that  
they open and that they open at the correct time? Shall I boil the  
little springy thing that sits under the case? At what temperature is  
it supposed to open?
