I have used aerosol carb cleaner to clean them. DO NOT USE COMPRESSED
AIR. I speak from experience.
Mine had a problem with the brass spring at the ground end of the wire.
I soldered a small insulated wire to this spring, and drilled a small
hole thru the cast housing and threaded the wire out of the sender. I
then grounded that wire and epoxied the hole shut around the wire to
seal it.
