It's possible that the gas is flushing out dried gas residue left 
from its long stagnant period. It's quite reasonable to be concerned 
about leaking gas in the garage, but you don't have to actually 
pressurize the lines to immerse the O-ring in gas. Just give the key 
a couple of twists, twice a day. Don't start the engine. You probably 
won't smell anything, but within a week this is likely to just be a 
memory. Try it and it's likely to all be over by the weekend.

The leak you're seeing is quite typical for cars which have sat for 
long periods and usually cures itself within this time.
