It seems odd to have this much pressure in such a wide tire, but I know that's
what my Taurus asks for. I'm also surprised that you want more pressure in the
rear tires, which have less weight on them.

The recommended pressures work fine. I believe they are about 18 psi in front
and from 26 to 36 in the rear, depending on the load. I air my squarebacks to
20 front/30 rear unless I'm carrying a heavy load. For heavy loads the rears go
up to 36, which is the max rating of the tires.

In general, a tire needs more air if it is supporting more weight. It's all a
matter of trying to hold the tire contact patch constant. People who put wide
tires on their type 3s have to experiment a bit to find the right pressures,
but they will end up at even lower pressures than the stock recommendations.

The low pressures for our cars arise because the car is so light, especially
the front end.
