I thought everyone would like a quick update on my Generator Light- aka: what I thought was my clutch light. I took it in to the great mechanic that Tim Kuhen recommended. He found that the generator was actually over charging at 14.8 volts. So he's putting a voltage regulator on. Also, the fuel overflow hose was bad, which might be part of my fuel problem. But, he found that one of my cylinders had low compression (45lbs) which was the reason there was a popping noise, and is likely the culprit of my low fuel economy. He's going to adjust the valves, and tighten the lower cylinder heads, but if that doesnt work it could mean a valve job, or if there's more that needs to be done we're toying with the possibility of rebuilding..... I'll keep everyone posted, but wanted to thank everyone for their advice. I've got my dummy guide book arriving in the mail this week, and I'm looking forward to reading and learning- even if I dont get the opportunity to do any of the repairs myself. Oh, and I remembered to take notes with the mechanic this time so I could give better details than previously ;).
