Here's how you clean the air cleaner. 

Separate the 2 halves. Set the top half aside, right side up, on a piece of 
newspaper. Never turn the upper half upside down.

Pour the dirty oil out of the bottom half, then wipe the inside of the bottom 
half clean with a paper towel or rag. There is no need to clean the top half, 
since the dirt picked up by the air cleaner all eventually comes to rest in the 
bottom of the oil bath.
