I'm wondering what the practical differences are in the shock absorber sizes and ratings between early and late Type 3s. I imagine there were significant changes between swingaxle and irs in the rear, but what about the front shocks? Any major changes? The front shocks changed in early '67, but I can't tell what changed about them. They may have just changed the damping. I don't find any other part that changed at the same time.
So, late Type 3 front shocks MIGHT work on an early car, but late rears absolutely won't? The reason I ask is that the shock catalogs I've seen don't list Type 3s before 1968. If I were looking for shocks for an early 60s Type 3, would Type 1 or late Type 3 shocks be more likely to fit? I'm thinking the rears would need to be the same as a swingaxle Type 1, but I'm confused about the front shocks.
