I have my old stock exhaust system just sitting here, so I'll look into
adapting the original shield. There is only a 1 in. gap at the closest
point between the bellows and the muffler, so it's going to be a close
fit even if I do pull it off. I will, of course, determine feasibility
before saws-alling a perfectly good (if rusty) OG muffler!
