[T3] Brosol fuel pump (was vapor lock)
<x-flowed>I pulled the pump to inspect it, and as far as I can tell, there is no way
to open this model unit unless the top section is threaded and screws off,
which I did not want to attempt for fear of breaking the input tube. Here's
a photo of this model pump: http://dcr.csusb.edu/dny/flow-2.jpg ) I tried
to blow through the output tube, and could not force any air/gas back
through, which I believe means the valves aren't stuck (?). There is little
if any resistance blowing the other way (through the input tube).
As they are relatively cheap I'm considering just picking up a new one
tomorrow and seeing if that does the trick. If not, I guess I'll need to
locate an air compressor and give the metal chassis tube a hard purge, as
that is the only possible place there could still be any blockage. Still, I
doubt this is the case because fuel spurts out of the metal line at the
back of the chassis when the line is detached, and I have been able to blow
through the line relatively easily from the engine cpt. through to the tank.
Either way, I think this Gremlin's days are numbered. Many thanks all!
Dave Y.
