I was wondering what the piston was for! Thanks, I will be sure to get it sealed. Finding NOS parts for the 32-phn is even tougher than finding parts for the dual carbs so I'm hoping I'll get this to work. Andre > Andre > > If it's like the twin carbs, these choke units are supposed to be vacuum chambers so the plug should always be re-sealed or the vacuum assist won't work. > There is a small hole in the carb wall into the chamber which is supposed to put a slight vacuum in there to lift the piston and assist the choke control process. I also had a sticky piston and nothing I could do really cured it but I eventually found a NOS carb top at a swap-meet for £5 and that got rid of the problem. > The electric choke covers should have cardboard seal rings round them to stop air being drawn in. You get new ones of these in the carb repair kits. > chris ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
