* One reason for oily or exhaust smell in car is bad seal on hatch or sqbk rear door. Openings will vaccuum in the trailing fumes. Ditto for loose engine lid. Did you ever see those folks tooling down the road in SUVs or Station Wagons, kids in the back, with the rear back-of-car window open? Yikes. How do they survive? If the exhaust smell dominates, my experience is...timing is off. Other problems could be there, of course. * Concerning windshield fogging...many know that, unless you have a Well-Sealed VW (no soggy rugs, etc), the "Volkswagon De-Fog/Defrost system" consists of a nice Squeegie kept handy for the driver. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > > NicoT=> Does this hot air travel past oily engine > bits > => to get to the cabin? > > If your engine is maintained properly, the cabin > air will not contact > any oily parts.
