I've had good results squeezing it with a pair of vice grips after the fiber
washer had deteriorated. I even have a pair of replacement rivits and washers
to replace a set, but it doesn't look like the stock rivit VW used. :O
Believe me, I've had these doors and their related parts apart a few times.
