If your engine is maintained properly, the cabin air will not contact
any oily parts. It's easy to get oil on the heat exchangers, but hard to
get it inside them.
If you're smelling oil, fuel or exhaust in the heater, something is
wrong that you should correct ASAP. It could be dangerous. The likeliest
leak is exhaust, at the connection between the muffler and the front
heat exchangers, usually due to rust.
