I had a look at my 70, and the bracket is identical to the one in my 73. What I noticed when looking at the 70's engine is that if this bracket would have been horizontal, it would most likely interfere with the linkage rod for the L/H carburettor. I didnt see this when looking at the 73, because I removed both the air filter and linkage before I took the pictures.

I dont know if you noticed it, but on both my cars, the rearmost threads were plugged by a little white plastic plug. These are the threads used for mounting the bigger FI bracket.

(It looks like you have a short version of that silver strap clamped under your bracket.)

I had to look at my pictures again, but I do not know what this is for.
