The cast parts have a kind of oxide skin on them that is somewhat protective; if you clean that off they will oxidize much faster. For steel parts I use a commercial catalyzed polyurethane enamel system, and sandblast first. I've used both Polane and Imron: Imron is available in an infinite array of colors but costs 4x as much as Polane, which is available in about 12 colors, including black. Otherwise they are very similar systems. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
