I am cleaning up my engine as part of a rebuild on mt type 3 engine in my dune buggy. I want it to look nicer than it does not (all covered in oil and dirt). I am getting the shrouds and tins sandblasted. Can anyone suggest a primer and paint for the aluminum and the steel shroud parts?

When I paint detailed Sophy's engine this spring I simply cleaned as much gunk off the shroud and then soaked it down several times with brake clean to get as much grease and oil out of the casting. Laquer thinner works good for this too. Then I just painted it with High Temp engine paint in "aluminum" color. Looks really nice. Not sure yet how durable it will be.
