My son built a centre console for his Fastback as a design project. It had one 6x4 elliptical on each side with central baffle plate, and held the stereo unit too. Part of the brief was it had to be easily removable in case we wanted to show the car. It was just fibre-board and vinyl covering. probably could have held round speakers as easily. Dave.
