Otherwise they're not deep enough behind the panel. On my 69, one of it's POs had the sheetmetal cut out to fit a smaller and shallower speaker. Since it was already opened, I just made it slightly bigger. Worked very nice there, nothing to move for loading, and good sound. I hope this helps.
